Assistant FarmManager
JobDescription:
To createapositive culture andassist in themanagement of an industry leading
soft fruit farm. To assist the farmmanager (FM) in all aspects of theday today running of the farm
withparticular attention to the successful growingand harvesting of fruit.
Reporting to:
TheFarmManager
Location:
Tuesley Farm, Tuesley Lane, Godalming, Surrey, GU7 1UG
KeyResponsibilities:
•Assist theFarmManager inplanningdaily production tasks
•Make sure that all tasks arecompleted to the required standard
•Develop aconstructive andmotivated team atmosphere
•Generatea clear strategy for eachcrop eachweek and communicate to LineManagers
•CropWalkingwith agronomist and external advisors
• Technical analysis and interpretation
•Assist FarmManager inHR / Administration – Inductions, Campsite, Payroll, Harvest Manager
administration
•Assist theFarmManager inStaff development andDisciplining.
•Assist theFarmManager inmaintaining accurate and appropriateproduction records
•Acquire agood understandingof all productioncost structures
• Together with theHarvest Manager plan harvest (3week estimate, labour requirement, field
rotations, etc)
•Maintain fruit quality (Shelf Life, Chilling)
•Before applyingpesticides check safety in thepesticidedistribution
• Ensure that theequipment is functioning correctly, correct nozzles, pressure and volume, etc.
• Ensure that the recommended registeredpesticide is used for the job at hand at thecorrect rate.
Disposal as tonational guidelines
•Adhere to all relevant environmental andH&S regulations
Skills&Experience:
• Flexibility onworkinghours –workwill be required at weekends during the seasonas cover is
always required from the FarmManager
•Be able todrive and hold a full, cleanUKdriving licence
• Previous agricultural experience
• Take responsibility for owndevelopment
• Strong communication andanalytical skills
• Excellent peoplemanagement skills
