BusyChristmas andNewYear for ProduceWorld
ProduceWorld had another
very busy Christmas, working
around the clock to supply
vegetables for Christmas
dinner. However New Year is
also a very busy time for the
company, which is one of the
UK’s leading grower and
suppliers of organic root
vegetables.
Scottish grower, Willie
Mitchell, of AA Carrots who
supplies ProduceWorld said:
“At this time of the year the
weather can be very variable –
one day it’s tipping downwith
rain and the next we can have
a foot or two of snow; but we
have to get the carrots through
nomatter what. Christmas is
busy but actually the New Year
is really busy too. I think a lot
of people start thinking about
eating healthily and organic
carrots are top of the list for
things like juicing.”
The organic carrots delivered
by ProduceWorld from its
Yaxley site come from a wide
range of growers in the UK.
Including all the organic
vegetables packed by the plant
during the Christmas period,
the Yaxley site deliveredmore
than 1500 tonne of
vegetables, or 538,000 cases
to 61 depots across the UK for
onward delivery to the
supermarkets.
Head of Operations Jamie
Tointon said: “During the
Christmas periodwe operate
24/7 and everyone here is
absolutely committed to
ensuring that our customers
have the organic carrots they
need tomeet consumer
demand during the festive
season. It is hardwork, but we
have the satisfaction of a job
well done.”
