PaceMechanical Handling
won the Crop production
equipment award, The Loven
Cup, at the annual LAMMA
Innovation Awards. The
awards, sponsored by Firma
Foreign Exchange, seek to
highlight the progressive nature
of themachinery, equipment
and service sectors of the
agricultural supply
industry both locally and
nationally.
The Judges said they were
impressed by Pace’s Orion CBC
(complete bag control) fully
automatic bag control and
stitching system, which
provided an extremely stable
arrangement to enable reliable
performance. The automatic
stitchingmachine grabs and
sews filled sacks with repeated
accuracy, producing the same
finish to every bag.
Themachine’s electric motors
contain encodedmeasuring
devices, making themachine
fully adjustable via a 10-inch
touch screen.
The Orion can handle various
sizes of paper, polypropylene
andmost other sack materials
used to pack a range of
products such as potato,
vegetable and animal feeds.
Themachine is robustly
constructed frommild steel and
is 100%manufactured in
Lincolnshire.
The awardwas presented to
Pace’s Managing Director,
Nicholas Cesare, at a packed
award ceremony on the first
day of the show.

Innovation Award
Preva Produce goes into administration
Preva Produce, based at
Foulsham in Norfolk have gone
into administration. Growing,
sourcing & supplying a range
of high quality potatoes to
customers across the UK and
Europe, the administrators,
Price Bailey, said that the
company had suffered
“significant cash flow pressures
which led to difficult trading
conditions in recent months”.
The administrators were
looking at the possibility of
selling parts of the business,
having already agreed a deal
(subject to contract) for the
29,000 sq ft packing facility at
Snettertonwhich has been
closed since November last
year. Unfortunately, 20 of the
company’s 31 staff had to be
made redundant.
Preva was formed in 2001 to
produce salad, pre-pack,
chipping and crisping
potatoes. The company’s most
recent accounts for the year
ended 31st December 2014
showed a pre-tax profit of
£407,669 on a turnover of
£11.62million.
