EIMA SHOW REVIEW
THE
VEGETABLE
FARMER •
JANUARY 2017
N
ewHollandwas
wasting no time in
showing Kongskilde
arable kit following the recent
acquisition of the Danish
company. It is still early days
but NewHolland is at the
start of a journey which long-
term could ultimately provide
farmers with a one-stop shop.
Chinese-owned Lovol Arbos,
another company at the start
of a long journey, previewed
three new ranges of tractors
at Agritechnica a year ago;
the 5000 (100-130hp), 6000
(140-200hp) and 7000 (220-
260hp). On show at EIMA,
the 5000 Series is the first to
go into productionwith the
first deliveries expected from
March. Threemodels, the
5100 (100hp), 5115 (115hp)
and 5130 (130hp), are all
fittedwith four-cylinder Kohler
Stage 4 engines, and
transmission options include a
two- and three-stage
powershift. More news on the
availability of the 6000 and
7000 Series is expected next
year.
The company was not only
showing tractors but also
some early results of what will
soon be an extensive range of
arable kit. On the standwas
one each of a drill, planter
and sprayer all made by
MaterMacc, a company that
belongs to the Chinese
company. Finished in the
same emerald-green and
pearl-white as the Arbos
tractors, fertiliser spreaders
are on the way. So too are
ploughs and cultivators, and
all products will also be
available inMaterMacc’s red
and yellow colours.
Speaking of MaterMacc, this
company showed a clever
system that plugs into the top
of a tractor exhaust to
transfer the gases through a
pipe to create the vacuum
needed to power the seeding
units of a precision drill
without using a fan.
Called the RED (Recovery
Energy Depressure) system,
and shown on the company’s
MS 8100 DT-HD, claimed
benefits include cost savings,
reduced power loss and noise
emissions, fuel savings and a
reduction in size andweight
of the drill.
New tractors
As expected, there
were plenty of shiny
new tractors at
EIMA. This included
the flagship from
McCormick’s
eagerly-awaited X8
VT-Drive tractors.
Powered by
6.7-litre
SCR Stage
IV engines,
the three-
model range
comprises the 264hp
(X8.660), 286hp
(X8.670) and 310hp
X8.680.
Believed to be the
most powerful
tractor designed and
built in Italy, and
certainly themost powerful
McCormick tractor ever built,
the X8.860 is proving popular
with the first punters. All
three X8 tractors are in
production and the first
models are expected to arrive
in the UK sometime inmid-
2017.
NewHolland used the
Italian show to launch the
T7.165 S, which
lacks some of the
bells andwhistles of
the rest of the range.
There is no engine
power management
system, whichwill
appeal to cost-
conscious fleet users
or arable guys doing
lots of non-PTOwork
where the standard
power curve for draft
work is sufficient.
The tractor comes
with the base lighting
package (no LEDS), and on
basic tyres and
remote valves. The
cab is from a
standard T7 but with
the low roof version
from the T6.
Deutz Fahr
launched Stage IV
versions of its
popular 5 and 5G
Series tractors, both
of which use
selective catalytic to
meet emissions
regulations. Other updates
include a new cab suspension
system and the hydraulic flow
has been increased from 60 to
90 liters per minute. New
auxiliary spool valve controls
are also includedwith shorter
levers which are closer to
hand. Production starts early
2017.
Case IH’s Farmall C
85/95/105/115will benefit
from several upgrades for next
year, including a new version
of theMulticontroller for easy
operation of the transmission
and hydraulics. An optional
additional ram increases the
hydraulic lift capacity to
4,400kg, and it is now
possible to specify a three-
speed PTO. The newmodels
travel at a 40kph ECO speed
at a reduced engine rpm of
2,000, and all four are
available loader ready from
the factory.
Power harrows
The increasing popularity of
500-600hp tractors inmany
regions of Europe is behind
the launch of the HD version
of Maschio’s 8m-wide Jumbo
power harrow. Main updates
include a new 550hp rated

The Bondi-made RollerCut is designed to cut up
trashy stubbles at speeds of up to 25kph.
