manager Alex Everett says: “I
am really pushing the fact that
we are aUKmanufacturer, so
we do not have to factor in
the uncertainty of the
exchange rate.” Everett notes
that Aeroplas’ range of
slottedpots, which enable a
label to be inserted into a slot
in the pot, “are nowmore
popular than ever.”
ChrisBreed, marketing and
area salesmanager for Desch
Plantpak, says that there’s a
trend in themarket formore
potswith label slots to ensure
label security for the retailer.
He adds: “Recycledproducts
continue to be as important
as ever for the environment
and are preferredby retailers
which iswhy 99% of our
products aremade from
recycledmaterial. A greater
amount than ever is collected
by us from growers and used
tomakemore pots and
trays.”
He divulges that Desch
Plantpak has two new
bedding packs in the pipeline,
a four and a six cell, which fit
24 per Danish trolley shelf.
Thesewere due to be in
production thismonth

and 10.5cm injection-
mouldedpots (with lock-in
label slots) have beenwell
received and orders are
already being fulfilled. He
adds: “Wewill be launching a
Danish trolley full-shelf
watering tray in early spring.
This is designed to create a
water reservoir on each shelf
tomake it easier towater the
plants on the trolley, whilst
greatly reducing the amount
of plant and compost debris
that falls from the trolley in the
retailer.”
Clearly, in a competitive
marketplace, great
consideration is given to the
quality of the young plants to
ensure they are grown to an
acceptable standard. Breed
reveals that the newdesigns
of itsDesch range, which last
year replaced the Zed range,
are sellingwell. “Carefully
placed holes and channels
ensure free and evenly
distributeddrainage across
the pot base. The stronger
pot rim has also beenwell
received.” Growersmay also
want to take note of the fact
that, last autumn,
