reduce carbon footprint

Dutch Engineering firm
DeJongh
are giving growers the
option of running their Self
Propelled Lay DownWeeder with
solar panels tominimise their
carbon footprint. The new
machine is available in the UK
from
Standen-Reflex
, the
importedmachinery division of
Standen Engineering.
Sales Manager MarkWinters
said: “ The Solar Powered LDW
runs on daylight rather than
sunlight, sowill work even on
cloudy days and is a great option
for organic farmers. We have
been encouraged by the interest
from supermarket retailers and
non organic growers as the
machine performs just as well as
themotorised version, but noise
levels have been reduced to
virtually nothing, which has made
a huge difference to the operator
experience”.
The De Jongh LDW is designed
for a variety of different crops
and is available as a single, twin
or triple bedmodel, its row
widths can be easily adjusted.
Custom built to order, the
machine also comes with a
battery pack, so if light is lost, the
machine can still bemoved. A
front row-feeler automatically
steers themachine and heavy-
duty castor wheels are fitted to
the rear. A strong but light all-
aluminium chassis makes the
LDW very easy tomove about.
The DeJongh Solar Powered Lay
DownWeeder will be on the
Standen Engineering stand at
