Suitable for handling awide range of seed types, there is no
news of a launch date.
TTA’s TrayscanApp is claimed as a giant leap forward in the
plant handling sector, which up until now has relied on the
naked-eyed counting of germinated seeds. Billed as the first
app of this kind, tablet technology is used to automate the
counting process. The app costs €99.99, and is now available
to download onGoogle Play.
One of the newpots added toModiform’s Prestigious range
includes an 8cm x 8cm design. Offered in two different heights
(7 and8cm), main features include reinforced ribs, a corner
section design that prevents root rotation, and a slot for plant
labels on all sides.
US firmPrimera Technologywas showing theGP3000Colour
TagPress, which prints both sides of pre die-cut stake tags,
hang tags, bench cards andmany other types of tags and
signage. Built specifically for the horticultural sector, a built-in
cutter trims the edges of the printed output to deliver full-
bleed tags. A digital creasingmechanism (patent pending) for
creating stick-in tags is also included. The resulting tags are
then neatly dispensed, stacked and ready for use – no tearing
apart of the tags required.
The company says users can print from just a few tomany
thousands of tags at a time. Users can change text and
graphics “on the fly” and add logos, pricing and any other
variable information. Outdoor tests of one year show no
noticeable degradation fromUV, water, and scratching. Print
resolution is 1200 x 4800dpi, andprinter drivers are included
forWindows software. Also included is Primera’s PTHort
Softwarewhich takes photos and text from a database and
formats it to various tag templates.
Finally, Van der ValkHorti Systems ValkScreenVision screen
insertion system saves timewhen inserting or replacing screen
cloths and is less risky for both crop and installer, as the
screen cloth is inserteddirectly into the profile, there is no need
to use clips. TheDutch firmwas also showing the XLDriveLine,
a new drive technique for screen systemswith lengths of up
to 150m. The new version sees the usual 3mm steel cable
largely replaced by a steel shaft for increased precision.
