Strips are fed into theAutoStix, which automatically
transplants the cuttings, andproduction capacity is
claimed as up to12,000 cuttings anhour, per six-head
strip headplanter.
Dutch firm Logiqwas talking about theGreencube
vertical cultivation system, the first three systems of which
are already installed in theUS andChina. Described
as ideal for pottedplants and vegetables, benches are
moved around the aluminium structure using a so-called
3D-Carrier. Ondisplay at IPM, two sets of wheels allow
it tomove independently both horiaontally and vertically.
The carrier does not pull benches but lifts them, with lift
capacity ranging from 1.5 to2 tonnes. A lift hoists the
Carrier between thedifferent crop layers.
H2Gro, the name of a newwetting agent from ICL
Speciality Fertilisers, will appeal togrowersworkingwith
outdoor plantswhere the effects of the elements lead to
increased evaporation from the outer plants. Suitable for
applying via awide range of irrigation systems, H2Gro
ensureswater is better absorbedby theplant roots and
compost. Sold in10-litre containers two in abox , and
in a 200-litrebarrel, dependingon application rates the
effectiveness lasts from2-6months. Tested inGermany
last year, this year it is ongeneral European release,
including theUK.
Finally, it is two years sinceMardenkro first published a
book about itsReduSystems products. Surprisedby the
demand the 1,000 hard copieswere soon handedout,
followedbymore than2,000downloads , the company
used this year’s IPM to release a second 2018/2019 138-
page edition.
Called ‘Thebright side of growing’, the content is related
to the firm’s products, but also contains useful grower
technical informationon a range of subjects, including
climate optimisation and increased/decreased light levels.
